Focus Years: 2010 | Country: Denmark
Synopsis:
We love our cell phones and the selection between different models has never been bigger. But the production of phones has a dark, bloody side. By buying so-called conflict minerals the phone companies are financing the civil war in DR Congo that, according to human rights organizations, has been the bloodiest conflict since World War II. The illegal mine industry is controlled by armed groups. The war will continue as long as armed groups can finance their warfare by selling minerals that end up in our phones.
