Focus Years: 2010 | Country: France
Synopsis:
It was in the beginning of June 2009 in Guadeloupe, which is a West Indies island belonging to France, when a massive general strike had just ended a few weeks prior. People had fought for their social rights, but also for the recognition of their culture, their tradition and their identity. Their protest was due to the fact that they live in an island torn by history and by the domination of a colonial power. Yet, in this land, a perpetual movement is trying to connect the countless fragments that make up the identity of the island. It's a movement to restore a broken unity. A movement which is called here "Lyannaj".
