In using archive material to create the fictional life of Clara B., we chose to blend real history and the invented story of her as an individual. Clara B. is a photo journalist, born in 1900, whose destiny epitomizes that of a free woman in the 20th century. This film also draws our attention to some of the unspoken truths of Europe's recent history.
