GIANTLANDS - Part of the Friend or Foe DVD Project - a community led motion picture project - 25min Sci-Fi, docu/drama Exposing 'Subtle Abuse' (Commissioned by NESTA and Genesis Housing Community). The aim of this project is to raise awareness of the various forms of ’subtle abuse' which seems to be targeted at vulnerable people. This may include coercion to borrow money or personal possessions by people "befriending" them or through scams. It will look at ways to address, report or ideally avoid it altogether. The project will see a film-maker work with tenants of Genesis Housing Association (who have enduring mental health problems) to help make an informative DVD, documenting and acting out real-life situations in which this abuse has occurred. The idea originally came from those who have suffered this subtle form of abuse and wanted to protect others by forewarning and empowering them to recognize and deal with abuse.
