Synopsis:
"The Watershed" is a poignant and powerful feature documentary about the disintegration of an upper-class family – The Trunks. Faced with the extraordinary trauma of losing both parents to alcoholism and divorce, seven siblings form a unique family structure. Still lulled by Camelot fantasies, the Trunk Family represented both the accomplishment and downfall of the American Dream. The film chronicles how a couple with seven children could suddenly break up, leaving their kids to literally fend for themselves in a cold, empty house without food or transport in the listless suburbs. Just when life seemed unbearable, all seven children were rescued and taken in by relatives who already had three children and limited resources of their own. It was there that they had a second chance at becoming a family again. Mixing classic Super 8mm home movies from when the family was still together, from the 60’s and 70’s, with modern-day interviews, "The Watershed" is a harrowing story of abandonment and miraculous redemption.
