Synopsis:
Mumbai lives cheek by jowl. It learned the hard way in 1993 that you can't hurt one without hurting the other. No one talks of tensions or retaliatory riots anymore. At the same time there is far too much anger today to even contemplate the city's secular imagery and there is certainly no appetite for conscious symbolism. But just the way in which businesses are tied and physical spaces shared forges bonds between communities, both spontaneous and forced.
