Synopsis:
2004: CARE, USAID, and the Bangladesh government launched the SHOUHARDO program to reduce child malnutrition in Bangladesh's poorest communities. The program's success stunned researchers. In less than four years, child stunting within the program's target population dropped 28 percent. Data showed SHOUHARDO's single most effective intervention was women's empowerment.
