Synopsis:
In Senegal, a gold mine has displaced farmers from their fields, leaving hundreds without jobs or a decent way to make a living. "The relationship between the immense richness of the mines and the extreme poverty of the surrounding populations is shocking," said Senegal's president, Abdoulaye Wade. A local human rights organization is helping farmers claim compensation and find alternative income sources.
