Etudes for Flugelhorn and Violin| 59mins
Director: József Czencz | Producer: Róbert Hunka
Focus Years: 2009 | Country: Hungary
Synopsis:
Contemporary Hungarian composer Magony works with Gypsy musicians because Gypsy musicians have played an essential role in music throughout Hungarian history. That’s why when Feri (Magony) composes a song based on a Hungarian folk song and creates its instrumentation, it is rather good to have a highly talented and experienced Gypsy musician who can tackle the task easily.
True, he needs to learn a completely new sound vocabulary—that strange world of Gypsy music—but the musician can apply his own embellishments and creative ability. He just needs to learn the new "tools". So something Gypsy musicians excel in is giving a recognizably "Gypsy" flavor to any music they play from the heart.
