Synopsis:
(2011) Nepal’s decade-long civil war ended in November 2006 with a comprehensive peace agreement. The Maoist rebels won elections two years later and a Constituent Assembly was elected to write a new constitution.
But three years later, the peace process is not complete with little progress made on key issues like the disarmament and integration of thousands of Maoist ex-fighters. The assembly meanwhile has not yet produced a draft constitution, and as fears grow that Nepal might slide back into conflict, frustrations are running high.
