Synopsis:
The fifth part of the documentary film series Hot As Hell: A Profile of Dhanbad focuses on the original inhabitants of the region, the tribals or adivasis, and how they are marginalized having been deprived of their land, their forests and their sources of water. This section deals with the issue of relocation and rehabilitation of 400,000 people living in Jharia on top of the best reserves of coal in India. The film explains why it has become so difficult for government authorities to remove these people from where they are currently residing. The film presents the views of those who are optimistic about the future of Dhanbad district. The problems faced by the people of Dhanbad are not unique. To a lesser or greater extent, such problems are endemic to many parts of India and the world.
