The Petanu River is one of the main rivers in the area of Gianyar Bali, located downstream from the source in Tampaksiring (sacred springs Hindu Bali). The Petanu River is one of a few purified watersheds associated with the myths of Mayadenawa. In accordance with the changing times, the river has become a source of livelihood for some local villagers and also for some people living outside of the village. People are starting to capitalize on the river bank by mining the stone to sell as raw materials for the construction of building temples and Balinese-style houses. Damage and pollution to the river flow has been a problem in the village area Kemenuh, which is the region suffering from most of the excavation. This film reveals the poor working conditions for the miners, the risks involved and the economic gain from the mining activities. The film also addresses the importance of the preservation of the Petanu River and its beautiful, yet threatened, environment and land area which raises a need to find solutions for the dilemma faced by the communities and people affected by the mining activities. The main solution highlighted by the film is the opportunity to shift away from mining and move towards a more sustainable livelihood, such as organic farming.
