Synopsis:
This is the story of a small, poor city kid (11- 14 yrs), who dreamt of being like any other child his age. The story begins with a day in Rajus life, when he was in school, principal asks him a question and he answers brilliantly. As a reward, Raju gets a 2 rupee coin as a token of appreciation. Over excited the child wants to have a candy stick. While all was enjoying the chuski, walking down the street with his friends, Raju sees his father ‘Shankar’ coming from the other end. The father doesn’t allow him that 2 rupee enjoyment and drags Raju to home. The entry into Rajus house gives an insight into his world. Brothers and sisters crying out of hunger, drunkard father, motherless, he runs off from home to earn the living his father has subjected him to sell books on the traffic crossing.
