Synopsis:
As a documentary film and stills artist, I wish to apprise you of my work and mission. The people in the world making an impact with a renewable energy direction with innovation are Israel. To that end I wish to expand my work to include the work being done in countries like Israel and Denmark, countries working in and embracing sustainable living. I was in Germany last Winter. I have thought about this work and understand the limits set by working alone. I appreciate the contributions made by many people. Since I am working in silence and help and suggestions are welcome. I have been contacting people across the US where I might find important perspectives and knowledge which will be important to enlarge the awareness of the public to the most important issue of our time or any time. Also, for the work to grow there must be foundational support for such a vast project. I am certain, as my approach to this issue surfaces fully, there will be people who would like to see this work advance and perhaps contribute to its completion. I have accomplished what you see in this current creation alone. I have been told; my interview style and content are unique since many of the ideas occur with erudite people in dialogue. Some of the most important Jewish people like NoamChomsky appear in my work. While some segments approach the level I would hope to achieve, working with the limited resources, I can only do the possible; even so the work is well received. The trailers below will give you an insight as to the ten part series "World On Edge". I am hoping to achieve the vision set out in my interactive, Keynote script written three years ago. However, while the general ideas and content of the script are as fresh today as when written, the climate change scenario unfortunately, is playing out as written years ago, clearly life has changed on this planet. This script was written for a potential film producer who at the time was prepared to invest four million dollars in the ideas. During the time I was working on the script the economic collapse occurred as I had and others believed it would. Some of the areas I spoke about are occurring as we speak some areas will have to be upgraded to reflect the changed reality. However, this is a work in progress and due to the magic of digital creation also allows or long shelf life. Contrary to the “You Tube” mentality, I want this work to speak artistically and philosophically to the issues of climate change and be enduring document to those left alive as climate change advances. While the general direction of this work hangs together it will change as the work continues to grow, finding people consistent with the programs philosophy. People who speak to the issues outlined here. Generally it means that we understand the planet will change radically and we must learn to live with a changed environment. How to accomplish that is a message in development and responds to world governments based on their economic model often capitalistic. A complete revision of the way the developed world lives must be reviewed. Their policies are designed to keep this system alive, which is clearly unsustainable and has led us to the mess we are those systems and policies are often moribund. Governments do not lead they react to changing circumstances often as a result of ill thought-out ideas. A message to youth must emerge, one of activism and responds to a change in values and philosophy. Some great thinkers respond to this idea as did: Noam Chomsky, "Hegemony or Survival", Alan Weisman, "Gaviotas" and Paul Ehrlich, "The Population Bomb", whom I have recently interviewed, here in Stanford. I am capturing the wise men of our civilization working around the globe and for survival. Men like these have consistently, given there knowledge to have humanity understand the perils being faced. I will employ a variety of techniques to reach the young and achieve change. The central idea of the work remains the same, e.g. we cannot change the direction of climate change without first changing the very tenets of the economic system and organization away from using Capitalism as the primary “good”. I am certain Socrates would have had some thoughts about our civilization with further human development in question? However, we do have some great people still living. I am trying to reach them and with your help may be able to reach others to coincide with my stay here in San Francisco. Recommendationswould be most helpful if possible. When I begin my journey back to New York in spring, perhaps you could help me with contacts across the country? We also have some great poets whose work we would have to theatrically recreate if not here. Also, the object of this work, to use performing arts and theater to get the message out! As you know the best people are (very expensive) to get the ideas across emotionally. Docudrama figures largely in this finished work. As we know there are many ways of making a documentary different then “ the expensive documentaries which tell a partial story, (“Blue Planet”) which have been effective in their way. What is different about the numbers of documentaries written and produced in contrast to this one? Firstly, most of them have been slick and based upon audience targeting, also box office receipts. However, interestingly since their production the numbers of people who believed that climate change was a fact have diminished until recently: 71% 2005, 51% 2010, 47% 2012, but recently back to 71% since we watch the polls melting. Previously low figures were largely as a result of the phenomena of “denial”. This is not a single documentary it is a work in ten parts that will be continually revised as the climate is changing quickly. This documentary series is designed to change as climate change continues to threaten humanities survival, targeting young people to become active In each of its different parts it will be changed or revised to reach all people with different discussions and ideas about survival. In certain places to convey ideas about culture and be in harmony to reach the people targeted. I expect it will continue and be revised after my life in an all inclusive ten part documentary dealing with the developmental direction of society, offering insights into where we have foundered with extremely important Ernest Becker “Denial of Death” Erich Fromm,”Escape from Freedom” Henri Bergson and others, the French school. Edgar Morin an eighty-year-old philosopher who wrote a small work that was published by UNESCO, "Seven Complex Lessons For The Future"
