Synopsis:
Every-day Australians are taking up the fight again some of the world’s largest corporations. The Australian economy has ridden on the back of its natural resources - and coal is what Australian has in abundance. Local communities around NSW share their stories of the heartbreaking impacts coal mining has had on their rivers. They believe it is time to put an end the destruction of rivers, ensuring that future generations will be able to enjoy seeing water in their rivers. Rivers SOS is a coalition of environmental / community groups / bushwalking clubs concerned with the damage to rivers in New South Wales, Australia by mining operations. This 26-minute documentary 'Rivers of Shame' highlights the need for a 1km safety zone around all rivers in NSW.
