Synopsis:
One is bound to ask at some point: What does a good quality of life in the 21st century entail?
Just as automated farming and instant-food have become prevalent, contemporary European Union states increasingly have come to encourage organic farming. Organic Ireland, is a short documentary film focused around a long-time farmer, Tom, who lives and works in a self-sustainable farm in South-Eastern Ireland. Based in New Ross, Tom explains the philosophy of organic farming and its aim to achieve a balance, not just in diet and nutrition, but also in the soil, from where all our food comes from. His philosophy is not just an alternative to the rapidly, noisy, city life (which automated farming seems more adept in maintaining), but a hope for small farms who aim not to profit, but to make nutritional products without wasting energy and damaging soil.
Accompanied by a collage of scenes from a TV show in Gaelic language presenting folkloric Irish music, the documentary depicts the Irish cultural setting that for Tom is completely entwined with organic farming.
