Director: Jeffrey Huxmann | Producer: solterra Productions
Focus Years: 2005 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
Hope Takes Wing tells the story of the endangered whooping crane and how one small non-profit organization is helping to restore this amazingly beautiful crane to the eastern half of North America.
Follow along as pilots dress in costumes, designed to mask the human form, and carry puppets to teach the young cranes how to forage. The young cranes are imprinted on Operation Migration's small aircraft and in the fall, are guided along a 1200-mile journey, beginning in central Wisconsin and ending, eventually, in Florida. The following spring the whooping cranes retrace the migration path and return to Wisconsin on their own!
