Synopsis:
International fishing fleets are plundering the oceans. With simple means the local fishermen are fishing the coastal regions of developing countries dry. Ali is fighting to survive, like all the fisher in the village. With his homemade harpoon he has 9 mouths to feed in his family. “My dream for the future is to make the local fishermen to the custodians of the marine resource”. Matano Ngati and his team have a vision. They are fighting for the Kenyan fishermen. They aren’t sticking to the rulebook so much as trying to come to an agreement. Their strategy: sensitising the fishermen for the themes like environmental protection and sustainability. It’s a small step on the way to the responsible management of our planet.
