Synopsis:
For the past two decades, Mohammad Azmi (55) and his wife have been picking up stray dogs from the streets of Alor Setar, Kedah (about 450km from capital city, Kuala Lumpur) taking them home and feeding them.
Despite being ridiculed by the society, as dogs are often regarded as taboo and un-Islamic, Mohammad (fondly known as Pak Mie) and his wife, Mak Intan, have helped to feed more than 700 of them (as of February/March 2013) treating them as if they were his own.
Pak Mie's activity has also attracted the attention from the local authorities, which, instead of putting them in animal shelters, would usually resort to killing the stray animals with the help from the animal department
