Solving water conflicts in Mount Kenya area: Water – A Swiss Perspective| 22mins
Director: Presence Switzerland PRS | Producer: Federal Department of Foreign Affairs- FDFA General Secretariat GS
Focus Years: 2001 | Country: Switzerland
Synopsis:
The documentary illustrates the problems of limited water resources, their use and conflicts, and the contribution of research towards finding sustainable solutions. Switzerland is often described as Europe’s reservoir. Its water resources seem to be practically inexhaustible. Nevertheless, it faces challenges today from growing environmental pollution and climate change. This is why it follows guidelines aimed at ensuring sustainable development, which take into account the habitats and needs of people, plants and animals. Switzerland is also actively engaged beyond its own borders in passing on its experience in caring for this natural resource. It is involved in water-related development projects in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, in construction and problem solving and in conflict resolution.
