Synopsis:
The consequences of climate change are more evident in Kerala in the year 2010 as we are passing through a long dry spell. Temperatures touched an all-time high of 42 degrees Celsius and unprecedentedly people have suffered from sunstroke.
The ecosystem of river Bharathapuzha and its tributaries have already been damaged by unmindful sand mining and similar other human activities. Numerous plant and animal species have disappeared, water has dried up or become polluted, and conflicts and quarrels have erupted widely in the villages of Palakkad due to water scarcity and issues related to the ownership of available water.
The river Varattayar is dry in almost all through the year and this has severely affected the life of people in the nearby areas. This is the story of Thankamani of Eruthempathi in Palakkad District who is burrowing the dried-up river Varattayar to get water for her family.
