Gredal Jungle Community| 7mins
Director: Lisette and Ryan Cheresson | Producer: Lisette and Ryan Cheresson
Focus Years: 2012 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
Downriver from Rurrenabaque in the Bolivian Amazon sits the Moseten Community, an indigenous jungle community that makes ends meet farming bananas, sugarcane, and rice. It’s about a two-hour boat trip down the Amazon River to get to the community, so trips back and forth to town are infrequent, and most of the community’s needs are provided for from their own land. While their organic practices are supported by the community’s beliefs, it’s just as much about lack of access to modern tools as an intellectual decision to keep farming traditionally. Herman Soto, the village president, tells their story.
