When Alec Loorz was 12, he was filmed putting up his SLAP (Sea Level Awareness Posts) on the beach in Ventura, California. At age 15, Alec presented his Declaration of Independence from Fossil Fuel to Senator Barbara Boxer on Capitol Hill. Alec travels widely to talk to audiences of youth and adults to encourage them to take action to help stop global warming. Kids vs Global Warming is a non-profit organization founded and led by Alec Loorz, who is now 18 years old. Alec educates other kids about the science of global warming and empowers them to take action. Alec is the winner of the Brower Youth Award and the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes and the Captain Planet Award.
