Synopsis:
In the rush to find a new source of cheap energy, the Great Plains of the West—and their inhabitants—are confronted with unintended consequences and an uncertain future. Stretching northeastward from the peaks of Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, the Powder River Basin is a land of rolling hills, big skies, and subtle beauty.  For nearly 200 years, generations of homesteaders have ranched these high plains. But natural gas extraction is transforming this austerely beautiful region, forever contaminating ground and surface water, and leaving longtime residents wondering what their future holds.
