Synopsis:
BAIF Development Research Foundation, a non-profit organization, is implementing a multidisciplinary programme covering livestock development through promotion of dairy husbandry, efficient use of water resources through innovative water conservation measures, agri-horti-forestry on dry lands, community health and empowerment of women through promotion of micro-enterprises and credit facilities, while ensuring a clean environment.
The objective of water resources development is to ensure safe drinking water and efficient use of water for improving agriculture and livestock production to benefit weaker sections of rural communities. The community has been convinced about the benefits of watershed development like improvement in soil fertility and availability of water resulting in higher crop yields, safe drinking water, increased employment opportunities and finally socioeconomic upliftment of the community.
Over 272,000 hectares of land have been developed, enabling 112341 families to enhance food production, while contributing US$100-110 million to the national GDP of India per annum.
