Synopsis:
"Neighbors in Eden" depicts the lives and achievements of four of America's greatest writers, all of them associated with the Transcendentalism movement: Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne and Emily Dickinson. Their vision of humanity as neighbors living in harmony with each other, nature and the cosmos is revealed in the many passages from their works heard in the film. It was filmed in the writers' Massachusetts homes and home towns, especially Amherst, Salem, Concord and the famous Walden Pond. The writers' eloquent, inspiring evocations of their lives in these communities as seen and heard in this film can move and inspire all of us to follow more neighborly, transcendent lives ourselves.
