Generally, philosophy is supposed to allow one to retreat from everyday life. Through philosophy, the problems of daily life can be viewed in a different light. They become more relative and banal, thus concerning us less. We may be able to see a simpler and bigger picture, which represents the real contribution of philosophy to happiness. Still, there are boundaries and obstacles where philosophy must admit its failure and we need to manage our way trough those experiences without a firm and logical aid.
"Life, as from Inside" is an effort to transpose philosophical thinking into film language, thus making it possible to enter the inner generic process of a philosophical thought. The film explores the methods and thoughts of three eminent Slovene philosophers, while the visual language becomes an aid for understanding or maybe even setting a guideline for a deeper observance of everyday life.
But as we started to reach the section of life from which philosophy silently retreats, existence served us a bitter and harsh example of its weakness and took from us one of the protagonists of the film.
The film is dedicated to the late brilliant thinker and human Dr. Ivan Kosovel, who passed away while filming.
