"Love & Venom" shares the story and life’s work of Don Downs, an electrician from Pittsfield, Ohio who shares his home, experience and belief in the healing power of bee stings with anyone in need who comes to his door. While illness and injury bring distinct individuals to the home of Don and his wife Norma, the generosity of his care and giving has created a community in which people reveal themselves and care for each other in astonishing ways. "Love & Venom" presents a compelling view of what health, healing and being together could mean for all of us.
"Love & Venom" is part of the web series "The Amerikans," which features 3 - 5 minute portraits of people from Northeast Ohio: www.theamerikans.org. The short episodes go behind the ordinary exterior of the subjects' lives to explore the imaginative power that real Americans express in their lives. Using a variety of film techniques and styles, "The Amerikans" are a new kind of relationship-based filmmaking, in which the subjects collaborate with the makers in representing their internal worlds.
