Focus Years: 1991 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
A Maryknoll nun, Sister Anna McAnany, works with school students of various ethnicities in Hawaii to help bring peace and harmony into their lives. Her Peace Education Program was initiated by members of the Waianae coast community in reaction to increasing violence in the public schools. More than just a conflict resolution project, the program teaches children how to deal with their anger before it erupts.
Sister Anna uses games, skits and relaxation exercises to increase students' awareness of their emotions. At the end of the video, students from two diverse high schools join in an exuberant "Day of Peace" celebration.
