Nordic Roots Special| 27mins
Director: Link Tv | Producer: Link TV
Focus Years: 2008 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
To help celebrate the annual Nordic Roots Festival in Minneapolis, Link TV has assembled a special program based on seven superb performances from festivals past. It's a connoisseur's dream, full of inspired fiddling, gorgeous melodies, and extraordinary musicianship and provides a look at what's been happening in the Nordic music Revival. Featured bands include Väsen, Frifot and Filarfolket, and noted virtuosos Annbjorg Lien (pictured) and Ale Möller. One of the highlights is an inspired duet by Aly Bain and Ale Möller of a sea chanty that has become part of the Celtic repertoire, but which traces its roots back to Scandinavia. If you like Celtic Music, this program will open your eyes and ears to its soulful Northern cousin.
