Global recession dramatically impacted Gujarat. Within a year, it's diamond industry collapsed on lack of export orders, the moneyorder economy dried up, shopping malls shut down and the Gujarati middle class is still to recover from the stock market crash. Suddenly everyone is playing safe, even in the matrimonial market. Choosing a highly educated groom over a stockbroker.
