A Nun's New Habit| 55mins
Director: Robyn Hughan | Producer: Veronica Sive
Focus Years: 2009 | Country: Australia
Synopsis:
Follow the story of Carmel Wauchope, a sister of the Good Samaritans who resides in an outback town in Australia. Carmel kicked off her habit 20 years ago. Her current habit, the plight of refugees who have been detained in the nearby detention centre and the ongoing psychological damage and trauma suffered after their release is arguably just as profound. Carmel is a gem, and through her we learn the ongoing hardships the refugees face and how important it is to maintain a sense of love, and compassion in a world often seen to be full of fundamentalism and hatred.
