Synopsis:
"Pen and Think" is a short documentary profiling Martyn Turner, political cartoonist at the "Irish Times" for almost 35 years. He still draws 4 cartoons a week, and his cartoons are distributed to over 200 journals and newspapers round the world. Martyn's kind is a dying breed, a political cartoonist with editorial freedom and a platform to express views outside the norm. As he is approaching retirement, there is no replacement in view - and we could soon be deprived of an important independent voice in our media. Is there a way to save this world? What might it be replaced by? This short film visits Martyn in his studio, where his gives an insight into his creative process and airs his views on the future of political cartooning.
