Synopsis:
"Our language is a treasure / Deeper buried underground…". At the end of the 19th century, a Romanian from Transylvania has crossed Europe by foot, animated by a single dream: to bring the light of knowledge to his fellow countrymen and to see the place of his ancestors: the Eternal city, Rome, Italy. The films shows his fight for education in a period when Transylvania was a part of the Hapsburg Empire, and there were only two official languages: German and Hungarian. Bringing books, printed in his mother language from across the mountains, George Cartan strongly believed that his act will help for the education of his people. We followed his footprints from Transylvania to Rome, Italy, bringing at the surface this simple hero.
