Synopsis:
The documentary "Parallel Reality" presents two different realities existing in Armenia. In an urban environment, an artist fully applies his freedom of expression at the same time affecting his audience, while in a rural environment there still do exist some customs that violate basic human rights. Melan and Lyda live in the village of Shenavan. Thirty years ago as the two girls got married with two brothers, they became "silent daughters-in-law", meaning they don't speak with their husbands’ father. They believe that keeping silence with their inlaws is a sign of respect. In contrast to this there is another hero of the film – artist Grigor Khachatryan, who is promoting and enlarging the space of freedom through his conceptual works, his actions, announcements, and even by presenting an award of his own….
