Synopsis:
The River Kosi, also called the "Sorrow of Bihar" changed its course following a breach in an embankment at the Indo-Nepal border, resulting in death and devastation. Over two million people were affected by the floods that deluged several districts of Bihar in 2008. The scale of the disaster perhaps made it one of the worst natural disasters in Indian history. "Hell and High Water" is a documentary from the flood zone one month after the floods. Though the flood water had started receding, the situation was equally grim. Farmers were staring at washed away crops, and also losing hope of any plantation for next year, migration to towns for jobs from the flood zone was being reported. Tired of living in temporary sheds for over a month, many were risking their lives to return to their submerged houses. For the children of Kosi in the relief camps, the fear of child trafficking and epidemic loomed large....
