In between nightmares and reality, in between death and life, in between darkness and light, there is a girl displaced and dissociated; a biographical snippet of our times. This is a videopoetry composed of lomographic film images rendered in digital format. About a decade ago, I wrote this literary piece, purely with the egocentric point of view of a depressed and gothic teenager. Ten years and a myriad of experiences and social interactions later, I revisited the poem with macroscopic and allegorical eyes, and saw that the teenage angst brought about by feelings of dissociation and displacement was simply symptomatic of an affliction that plagues a generation at the threshold of rapid scientific and technological change, and is a common psycho-cultural illness amongst developing countries born of both indigenous and colonial parents. Since paradox and dissociation are central themes in this videopoetry, I found it an apt choice to combine analog and digital through the use of lomographic cameras to shoot the images, and digital means for editing.
