Synopsis:
This documentary is a beautifully filmed composition of eight independent portraits to show the true heart of South Africa: it's people. Nobel Prize winner Desmond Tutu named South Africa the Rainbow Nation in 1994, at the end of Apartheid, in the hope that its stunning diversity of ethnic groups would soon live together in peace. Each chapter is told in the words of its own main character, on a vibrant soundtrack (original violin compositions along with great local hits), giving the documentary a very unique and intimate feel. The director's intention is to create consciousness around the diversity of the population of South Africa, and knowledge of the social issues of the country, which is the first to host a worldwide football event in the history of the whole continent. In 2010, "we hope that the World Cup will help unify people, if there is one thing on this planet that has the power to bind people together, it is football" (Nelson Mandela, 2006).
