In the heart of the Amazon rainforest, there are approximately 80 nations and Indian tribes. To get to the Indian territory of Maués, it is necessary to take a a 26-hour trip by boat from the port of Manaus, the capital. Barreirinha is the largest city in the interior of the forest, and has the only Brazilian city mayor who is an Indian. In Barreirinha, five boys - young descendants of Indians - discuss their homosexuality, and tell how to live as gays among these Indian descendants and relatives. The movie is a painting in black and white of the challenges and prejudices they face in everyday life for being gay. They are folk dancers from the biggest party in the interior of the Amazon, the Boi Bumba, and the film is at once a portrait of their hopes and dreams for the future. This film participated in over 40 festivals and helps to promote cultural diversity around the world.
