Synopsis:
Senegal is host to many refugees from all over West Africa, most of them from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Mauritania. In the summer of 2000, conditions in refugee camps in Dakar were so deplorable that some of these refugees organized a hunger strike. "Refuge?" advocates for the rights to food, shelter, and basic healthcare due to asylum-seekers, as established in international law.
