Synopsis:
TURTLES IN A SOUP is the untold story of how India's freshwater turtles are being illegally traded, at an astonishing scale for use in food and medicine and to feed the markets of South East Asia. With this mass exploitation of turtles, India is plummeting into the depths of what conservationists call the Asian Turtle Crisis. This uncontrolled trade is depleting India's turtle population, at a dangerous pace. For a country where, turtles have largely been revered and protected for generations, today, the irony is at its most extreme.
