Director: Thomas Fisch | Producer: Thomas Fisch
Focus Years: 2005 | Country: France
Synopsis:
Wodaabe, nomads of Niger, belong to the family of the Fulani, a people whose Sahelian mythical origins were lost near the Red Sea. Wodaabe are known for their worship of beauty and elegance. They are known mostly for gerewol, a ceremony held annually at the end of the rainy season. On this occasion, men are preparing for a ritual dance for women. The best of them will be recognized, crowned and elevated to a worthy representative of the aesthetic and morphological Fulani society. In this film, we will immerse ourselves in a nomadic group in northern Niger, and live with them until the middle of the Sahel gerewol. Thus, the rhythm of the camels, we offer an invitation to nomadism, an introduction to its values.
