Director: Susan M GriffithJones | Producer: Jamyang Sangpo Bhutia
Focus Years: 2008 | Country: India
Synopsis:
Presented in WIDESCREEN format, the film begins with a series of lake and desert scenes of Northern Sudan over which a Sufi story, ‘Tale of the Sands,’ is narrated. Bringing to light the essence of Sufism, the photographic images that show the natural beauty of the country melt into a series of cinematographic images that depict a group of Sufi dancers practising a specialised dance at their weekly meeting at the temple in Khartoum, Sudan. The music that accompanies their dance is both entrancing and energetic in a rhythm that increases as the session continues.
