Synopsis:
'The Cave of Fertility' is a holy cave where the sangomas or traditional healers of the Sotho people have lived for centuries. Pilgrims from all over Lesotho and South Africa come here to be instructed, enlightened and healed. The Cave is situated at an altitude of 2000 meters on the border between Lesotho and South Africa.
The film depicts the 2012 expedition organised by Spirits of Africa and portrays the cave and its inhabitants. It focuses on Josephine Moloi Malrato, who can heal people with the power of a particular ancestor residing within her. The film also portrays three other sangomas, whom we meet during a ritualistic night of singing and trance, where hundreds of pilgrims gather to worship in the cave.
