Synopsis:
"Grandmother Drum: Awakening the Global Heart" documents how the largest healing drum in the world, gives people the power to reconcile and come together in peace and understanding. Seven years in the making, this 77-minute documentary film tracks the journey of the large seven-foot, crystal inlaid GrandMother Drum. From a vision given in dream, to a year long building process in Chickaloon, Alaska, to traveling the world gathering thousands in worldwide drum vigils for peace and dynamic multicultural performances, the GrandMother Drum sends out her heartbeat of love from the Alaskan people. According to creation stories of the world’s religions, creation started with sound, with the Word, with the Big Bang. For thirteen years White Eagle Medicine Woman (Suraj Holzwarth) was visited in dreams by indigenous grandmothers giving her spiritual guidance to build a giant healing drum. With the help of the Alaskan multicultural community, GrandMother Drum was built in 2000 for just that, to sound a Big Bang of Love and create a new age of peace and illumination among humanity. As foretold by the Otomi Elders of Mexico, “when the sound of 8,000 drums would be heard the Earth would begin her renewal”. The GrandMother Drum tours the world to fulfill the ancient prophecy and gather thousands in worldwide drum vigils for peace. Journey with her across the outback of Australia to work with the Aboriginal “Stolen Generation”, into remote northern villages of the Yukon to California’s main stage setting the Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Drum Ensemble For Peace. The soundtrack of the DVD, "Songlines of the Soul", was written and produced by White Eagle Medicine Woman and is her second CD. Her first CD, Journey of the Heart, won awards in the 2004 Alaska Song of the Year Contest. The film and the music are truly an inspiring good news story.
