Arch Coal Corporation mines coal in Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky by literally exploding off the tops of mountains to expose and access coal beds. This technique is called, Mountain Top Removal. Whole communities have suffered forced removal from their homes. Farms, lands, streams and rivers are clogged, diverted and polluted. Arch Coal is currently permitted to strip mine 1.3 billion tons of coal in the Powder River Basin of Montana at Otter Creek. The coal will be sold to Asian Markets and China resulting in 11 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide released into our air. Women from West Virginia to Oregon speak out to stop Arch Coal, their coal trains and the proposed coal shipment ports.
