Synopsis:
Stelarc is an internationally renowned performance artist. He explores the notion of the obsolete body through his performances and installations. In this installation, the articulated head, a conversational agent is embodied in an industrial robotic arm. Through sensors and built-in Artificial Intelligence, the robot has situational awareness and responds to external stimuli. The robot is a metaphor for the transformative nature of technology from the industrial to the ubiquitous and sublime and the potential to be supra-human but at the same time it is merely a reflection of the human ingenuity and creativity (and perhaps failings).
