An empowering story about the gender struggle in women’s football/soccer in Sweden and the development of the often harsh environment since the first clubs got structurally organized in the mid-1960’s up until today. While it is simply "football" for men, it is almost like another sport when it is played by women and has to use the prefix "women’s football". The 3 films cover the following themes: 'The Winning Call': Today's reality. A portrait of the current state of women, who are real football talents and manage to make a living by playing the game. They do not necessarily look back at a long and tedious fight in order to just to play. 'Women Against the Tide': Yesterday’s reality. A portrait of the talented women, who despite the enormous incredulity and distrust surrounding them always deeply loved and dreamt about playing. 'Play Seriously': A chronological study and insight into the important dates and decisive moments throughout the history of women’s football illustrating the development towards a more equal game and society's perception of it. Overall, the documentary series portray characters that for almost fifty years have fought and struggled to be able to play the sport they all loved to pieces in a surprisingly unequal Scandinavian society.
