Director: Levin Peter | Producer: Elsa Kremser
Focus Years: 2012 | Country: Germany
Synopsis:
"A Promise" is the reflections of young couple Levin Peter and Elsa Kremser on relationships, marriage and divorce in contemporary society.
What is it that keeps two people together? What happens to two people's feelings when they are formalized in marriage? Will love be stifled under the pressure of this contract or can it blossom into a bond of unimagined depth with eternal vows? Why do two people choose to make this promise to each other?
Levin got married when he was 20 years old and got divorced four years later. But it was only after his divorce that he began to ask himself what marriage really means. His new relationship with Elsa aroused the impetus to examine this question in film. Driven by a very personal story, the film interweaves an ensemble of different couples and concepts of marriage. "A Promise" gently explores a web of hopes and dreams, fear and dependency, loyalty and trust.
