Synopsis:
I AM WHAT I AM is a musical documentary and coming of age story of youngsters living in Bern-West. Rushit (15) and his four friends have the best-known rap band of the area. Natalia, who fled from Kyrgyzstan at 16, gets to know them during the rehearsal of the Bernese Hip-Hop-Musical. They talk about work and family, girls, trouble with the law, friendship and trust, hoping to become someone and to have more than just a regular life. This search and the struggle for trust is the leitmotif of the film.
